The Boulder County Farmers’ Markets celebrated 25 years of supporting local agriculture on June 23rd. Festivities began at 10:00 am with mayoral proclamation and ceremonial cake-cutting in the Boulder Market foodcourt plaza on 13th street. Founding Market members and special guests were recognized in tribute of the organization’s significant milestone.
“The support of the community has been fantastic, and we’d like to thank them,” said founding member ‘Farmer’ John Ellis. “Our customers have helped a lot of farmers continue farming in Boulder County and stay in business. It’s been a great experience giving people what they want and I’m pleased it’s worked out as well as it has,” he added.
Customers at the Boulder and Longmont markets were invited to enter hourly raffles for prizes from 8:30am – 12:30pm. Special children’s activities included face-painting, balloon-sculpting, and a free 25th anniversary activity book for every child.
